Entrepreneur Spotlight – Mikaela Ian

Having known Mikaela Ian since our college years I have kept an eye on her career and watched it evolve year after year.

I specifically remember her being one of the first to bring video news to an online news publication at the Bermuda Sun. Don’t believe me? Here is a clip 🙂

Now in 2020, she is bringing all her video marketing experience into a new online course to help businesses owners and marketers understand and take advantage of the power of video marketing.

What area of business are you in?
I’m in the online marketing space, specifically a marketing and video coach for new women entrepreneurs. I offer 1:1 coaching, a video marketing course and 90-minute marketing strategy sessions.

How would you describe your Instagram page and what do you hope to achieve with it?
I’m a marketing and video coach and I teach new womenpreneurs how to confidently market their services + use video to grow their brand.

How did the idea for your business come about? Or what sparked a change in your current business?
I wanted to use my skill set to create a business where I could impact hundreds of women. I teach women how to show up for themselves and their business so they can make more money. A lot of women aren’t confidently marketing their services so I’m there to help them with that.

What were the biggest initial hurdles to building your business and how did you overcome them?
At first not knowing who my target audience was or what they wanted. Also mindset was a big part. Once I had a mindset shift and I told the universe I was wide open to receive. The money started coming.

Anything you would do differently in hindsight?
I would master my mindset right at the get going because that’s key in owning a business. Also, you can’t market yourself effectively if you don’t believe in your offers or services because you’re allowing limiting beliefs to get in the way.

What would you say was the single most influential factor in your business success?
I would say investing in myself. I’ve hired coaches, gone to business conferences, paid for expensive courses. It’s all paid off for me because I’ve learned a ton about running a business and mastering my mindset.

What advice would you give to an upcoming entrepreneur locally or internationally?
The first thing is to hire a coach. You won’t be able to get far on your own if you are googling free information. Also, know your ideal clients inside and out before promoting anything.

Which product or service you offer that you are you most proud of?
I have a course called Video Pro in 30 Days that I’m relaunching soon. The content is excellent and the results are incredible if you do the work. Video marketing in my jam so I’ve taken everything I know about mastering video and put it into this course.
